Abbas M. Baig is the Founding Principal of the BAIG LAW FIRM. A Barrister and Solicitor, Abbas obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Abbas also holds a Master’s Degree (MSc.) with Honours, and a Bachelor’s Degree (BSc.) with Honours, from the University of Guelph.
After obtaining his law degree, Abbas articled with one of the best civil litigation law firms in Ontario, focusing on Personal Injury and Insurance Defence. Abbas has successfully argued motions before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has obtained various Orders from the Ontario Courts. Notable cases: 8443220 Canada Inc. v. V.G.R Investments Ltd., 2021 ONSC 8258 at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Abbas served as Chief of Staff to a Federal Member of Parliament in the Government of Canada. Abbas also served as a Special Assistant to a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Ontario. While working in politics and government, Abbas provided strategic advice to politicians and elected members in the provincial and federal government. He has built strong relationships in many multicultural and multi-ethnic communities, with elected officials, and prominent figures in various communities.
Abbas has also counseled clients at the Refugee Protection Division, Refugee Appeal Division and the Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).
